I generally advise people to avoid having their camera gear on a homeowner's rider anyway- the last thing you want is the HO insurance canceled because of a claim. Talk to any licensed insurance agent- Traveller's has a nice "personal professional property" policy, or just ask about an "inland marine" policy for your gear.

I heard this on the news last night. I hope he stays retired...it's so rare to go out on top...and so hard to stay out of the game for people with an intense champion's competitive nature. But the comebacks rarely work out well...

I heard that the Special Red Edition iPhone 3G Pro will be released soon, if so, will it be 16GB or 32GB? Or, it will have both formats? Will you get this special version instead of a black or white one?
I heard you just wasted 5 minutes of my life. Had to respond to even make that time worth it.

There is no way to change the graphics chip on ANY iMac. They are all soldered to the logic board.
More RAM + faster harddrive is about all you can do.
I specifically remember them saying they replaced the graphics card on my DV SE G3 500 iMac when i had it repaired under warranty years ago, now if that means it can be upgraded i doubt it, but from the way it sounded was like it was a seperate card and not part of the logic board.

...or you could support DNS, and connect to for example [servername].dyndns.org (http://dyndns.com) instead of an IP address.
You can then edit the /etc/hosts file (or equivalent) on your LAN computer(s) to point to 192.168.1.2 instead of resolving the public IP through name servers.

This does look like iOS4 is turning into Apple's Vista. I've begun noticing odd quirks with my iPhone 4. Frequently, the screen refuses to shift into landscape or portrait mode when I turn it. The only thing that seems to fix the problem is a re-boot of the phone. Reception is still wonky. In the exact same location it will shift from 5 bars of 3G to 1 bar of EDGE, then 1 bar of 3G and then to 3 bars of EDGE. I've had several bizarre syncing problems when either iTunes or iPhoto reported simply, "An error has occurred."
When it works, it's great. But it certainly has been more finicky than my old 3G, which was rock-solid.

No, the 6970 is a 2 year old card. It may have come OUT this year.
Being as powerful as a card from 2 years ago and being to years old is something different. The 6970 is from this year not from 2 years ago. However you may be right with the performance.

I just purchased one of the otterbox defenders on eBay for my iPhone 4 :D. I was just wondering is anyone would like to tell me some thoughts on the case such as whether they like it or not, some tips for using it, pretty much anything would be helpful.
Thanks.
Thanks.

first just select the cell you want to format. then click that little arrow that i circled in the image. in the dropdown, just select "numerical system" and you should be good to go. you can add decimal places also in that same menu.

i would think that the main problem in modding the inaards of the PB to fit an AE card would be space. The AE card is shorter and wider than the original style airport card. That and the interfaces are different. I may be wrong, but I think that the AE card is more like a PCI card, and the original card is more like a a PCMCIA card. SOmeone may correct me if they wish.

IMO, really annoying and makes people go out of their way to get here.

That's an interesting and possibly controversial statement.
Putting Macromedia to one side... what beef do you have with Adobe?
Any apps in particular? And where does the past come into it?
Only curious 'cos Adobe are the people I rely on to get work done...
The frameworks that Adobe use for their applications are far older than those that Macromedia use but both are rooted in the 1980s and are a significant CPU drain compared to techniques for modern Mac OS X software. Apple was unwise to allow the same core of an application to run on Mac OS 8.x, 9.x and X. Even AppleWorks has two separate applications which call various Carbon modules. What works well on one operating system is counterproductive on the other.
Considering that Adobe converted their software to run on Mac OS X, they should have used Carbon Events to allow Mac OS X to use the idle time for other processes rather than using the old event loop. It is apparent from the way their applications use CPU while idle that they have not chosen the more efficient path but only the more expedient one.
Part of the problem with converted applications is MetroWerks' PowerPlant framework, which Macromedia and many, many others use. It has used the old event loop too. However, they redeemed themselves by creating PowerPlant X, which uses Carbon Events. I believe that the patched versions of Macromedia's applications are using PowerPlant X but are simply inefficiently coded.
Sorry to those who have been reading this for the past two years. It's an old, sad story that should have changed by now. I want to say something nice instead.
Here's to Brad and Ryan! :) They're the good guys.

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExFAT), Apple added exFat support to 10.6.5 in November.
Terrific, I can reformat my storage partition as exFAT to have native read/write access in both OSs.
Unfortunately, sharing a folder on an exFAT volume still does not make the settings stick. I can only assume at this point that OS X only saves user permissions for HFS+ file systems.
Since I don't intend to share my files with anyone else, I've decided to enable Remote Login. By doing this, I would be able to see the entire hard drive on my MacBook Pro, but only after entering my username and password. A bit of an inconvenience to navigate through the folders, but it works.

It's going to be interesting to see how this slows down the App approval process. "After a highly publicized dispute, Steve Jobs had to review the App himself and he said 'huh??? what??? it's not even in english!'"
I have a feeling this is going to open up a lot of loopholes and backdoors for foreign developers.
