We're not Anti-military, we're anti-spending billions on crap we don't need. Like extremely expensive fighter jets, as if we get into dogfights with the Taliban.
But, what if we go to war with Iran? We need a plane to counter those F-14 Tomcats..... :p
Like I said in my previous post, I believe the F-22 Raptor is a necessary aircraft to have developed and built. We just don't need a sizable fleet of them right now.
The only thing right now that concerns me is when there is a time of war and we need to build more Raptors quickly, can our reduced manufacturing base keep up with the war effort?

"Hardware accessories Apple Remote, 85W MagSafe Power Adapter, AC wall plug, power cord, lithium-polymer battery"
Why does that say 85W? Am i missing something, or is that a mistake? the 85W adapter is for the MBP's.

Ok, but they are only utilizing Moscone West. Why not rent West and North, South or all three. That would allow them to expand without moving.
Or just expand it to 2-3 weeks and repeat the event so all can come who want to. I am sure Apple wouldn't mind making a few million more off the event

I hear what you are saying, but again I would disagree. Though I'm not sure you intend to do so, the argument you have presented comes across as if all believers in the Bible ascribe to a theology of works. Though some denominations might function in this manner, it is not consistent with the primary message of the Bible which is that we are saved by grace through faith based on the sacrifice of Christ.
Which takes us into rougher territory. If works are relatively insignificant in the scheme of salvation, your absolute moral code starts to crumble and fall in on itself. For, why should a believer bother to follow it if the saviour is always near at hand to forgive and redeem?
Why should a Ted Bundy not go out and brutalize one more victim when he can just prostrate himself before the altar and come away clean and ready to face god? Why should Lloyd Blankfein not cook up another scheme that will immorally (but legally) cheat a few more million people of their hard earned savings if it is not proscribed by his faith (not sure on the specifics of jewish morality).
In light of the examples of history (perhaps including those in the bible itself), how can you say that religion has made anyone a better person than they would have been? To me, it looks like religion has made the world a worse place than it might have been without it.
The concept of moral neutrality or clean slate at birth, is a long debated issue and you are correct in saying that the Bible teaches the doctrine of original sin. Based on scripture I personally believe that while man is definitely capable of "good" due to the fact that he has been created in the image of God, that image has been marred by sin. This leaves man in a "broken" condition and at the core we are selfish by nature.
Every time I hear about how we are naturally selfish and corrupt, I hear the utterer trying to apologize for their own faults by expanding them upon all others. As a counselor, you should be familiar with the mechanism called "projection". I see right-wingers using it constantly (not that I am specifically calling you a right-winger).
Please hear what I'm saying, because as you correctly point out this can be a very confusing process, especially in a post modern world that espouses situational ethics and moral relativity. I believe in absolute truth, truth that exists outside of my perspective and is applicable regardless of how I "feel" about it.
Yet, again, the absolutes get bent. When believers run up against a moral wall that divides them from their goals, they seek the counsel of a cleric. The cleric typically sympathizes with the believer's plight and very often finds a way to interpret the scripture to turn the question to the believer's favor. So you have your absolutes, but they are also flexible. What good then are they, that they can be molded to suit your needs? How is this better than situational ethics (logic, reason and compromise), other than to employ scholars in the service of the almighty?
An accurate understanding of original sin does not mean that man is completely "evil" in the sense that we are incapable of doing works that would be considered "good" or altruistic. The human spirit is capable of many good things, but without an accurate understanding of who God is and our relationship to him these good works become nothing but acts of vanity and self glorification that serve only to advance pride and promote self-reliance.
No, sorry, you cannot have that one. "Altruistic" does not coincide with "vanity and self glorification". In my filthy heathen state of unsaved gracelessness, I still do things for which my only reward is a smile. And even when I do have an ulterior motive ("you can return the favor at your leisure, to me or to someone else"), how does that detract from my having done well and good by someone else?
Like many of the things we have discussed in this thread I fully understand that this will hinge upon that impasse of faith that many can't get over.
I have had more than a third of a century (from teenage years) to develop my philosophy and unbeliefs, and you are obviously quite steadfast in yours, so yes, there can be little doubt of the mexican stand-off. Does it trouble you? As hoary and mulish as I may be, I still find merit in these discussions, because they draw things out into the light that I had not bothered to look at. You do teach me things, though they are almost certainly not the things you intend. I hope you in some way also benefit, it would be a shame to think this only leads you to despair.

Forget about everything else for a second. Al Jazeera was actually supportive of the US' actions in Libya. People in Egypt and elsewhere are actually supportive of the US bombing a country in that region.
That's absolutely amazing considering the damage GWB did to our standing in that part of the world.
The next time some nutcase tries to recruit someone to blow himself up based on the idea that the US is the "bad guy" it is going to be harder now. So, maybe... just maybe, there is a bigger picture.
Oh, and can anyone point me to the part of the Constitution that permits a standing army?

Why is this on the front page? It's like saying that WalMart is now selling a junk tablet. Except this article says that Toys R Us and Best Buy is now selling iPads. This isn't front page news.

I love the Hecho en China threads!
Every time, posters come out to support China and insult the US. They all use the same talking points:
US workers are lazy
Unions are evil
Regulations against pollution, etc are burdensome
An iPhone would cost $1000 or even more!
Taxes on rich people/corporations are too high.
Hmmm.....sponsored by our right wing, or by Foxcon?
You do understand that the right wing backbone is low income factory worker types in the so-called red states, right?

Uh oh, now you're going to unleash the fury of the autism brigade. Asperger's isn't a personality disorder!
LOL the "autism brigade"? That's funny :D
Well I don't know if you've dealt with many people who are on the autistic spectrum but they're very difficult, ie they don't behave like people who are not on the autistic spectrum, so I think calling it a disorder isn't too harsh an assessment.
I deal with Asspies online more than I do in real life, for good or ill.
Asperger syndrome or Asperger's syndrome or Asperger disorder ( /ˈɑspɚɡɚz/[1]) is an autism spectrum disorder that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests

If there's going to be a preview release at WWDC, does that not mean that we could seeing a full release very soon? As in, later this year?

Is there even a display technology that shows 3D without glasses and shows it even when you rotate the screen from landscape to portrait ? Lenticular surely isn't doing that, and I don't see Apple pushing 'those glasses' in their products ("The all new iSight !").
Edit: Maybe a breakthrough in "Phased-array optics" ? ;)

Just a heads up, Best Buy got into a bit of trouble for holding inventory and were told by apple to sell ipads if were in stock. Good luck finding any tomorrow....
Almost all stores didn't listen to that email that was sent out. They continued to sell only reserved items. I have heard that most of the Apple employees from within the stores liked it better that way. They get asked 4x the questions about an iPad as they do compared to a notebook or iMac. They get "graded" by their selling numbers. Time = Money. If you can spend half the time for something starting at 2x more money, which would you choose?

yes I do ... and I am 100% in support ... I would be more than willing to pay more taxes if Canada increased our spending to bring us more on par with the US.
How can that possibly be justified? What is the threat that this budget is confronting?

I certainly hope that the resolution on the Apple Movie Store will be AT LEAST 480x720 (aka 480P). Otherwise, between Netflix and super cheap DVDs these days, I don't see how Apple can compete with lower than DVD resolution.I fear the files will be too big to download. It would be an overnighter to download a 320*240 movie as it is with my connection, anything bigger will just take far too long. And anyway, if they did that, people would have to re-encode it for their iPods.

jeez, 8 whole mega pixels??? Wow fruit, welcome to you sure are being generous here. My android phone has 8mp and it came a full year ago... The pictures it takes are pretty sweet compared to my friends i(paidtomuch)phone4. I'm not trying to bash anyone but I see a lot of fruit boys on here saying they are OK with whatever fruity says. Ya'll really need to revolt or something because that's not right. I guess once the specs are finalized, we will see a 10+ mega pixel camera on either android or windows phone? I have no idea..
I will suggest that perhaps a physical side camera button like the Windows phone has for taking pictures would great because with a touchscreen it is hard to tell if you took a picture in a noisy environment when you can hear the click.
That is all.
PCP
What are you bragging about? Nokia already has smartphones with much higher megapixel cameras than your android phone. BTW, if you really owned an android phone why can't you say who made it? Are all android phones the same like robots?
